BEARDLSLEY BAND EARNS SUPERIOR!
On Thursday, March 8, the band performed at the
Norris MS Band Rating Festival. The band performed "Legend Of The
Eagles', "Episode for Band" and "Into The Clouds". When all was over,
they walked away with an overall "Superior" rating. Congratulations to
band members for their hard work and commitment to excellence!
DONORS CHOOSE PROJECT #2 IS FUNDED!
The first week of March found the charitable
organization DonorsChoose.org, launching another matching donation
drive. To take advantage of these funds we created a new project. Thanks
to our amazing staff, family members and community, we funded the
project in one day! As a result we have purchased a Zoom Q4HD camcorder.
This piece of technology allows us to record student performances and
rehearsals in high definition (1080P) with high quality audio. Thanks to
all of our music fans for their generous support!

Welcome to A New School Year!
The 2011-2012 school year has begun! I hope each of
you is looking forward to a great year of challenges, building great
friendships, learning new things and working at being the best you can
possibly be! The Beardsley Band has a longstanding reputation for
excellence. We work to demonstrate that in competition, in the
classroom, and in our personal lives. This web site is designed to help
students, parents, and interested visitors to stay in touch with the
band program throughout the year. Please use it (a lot!) Here's to a
great year!
Colorguard Members Clean Up at Car Wash!
Under the direction of
Colorguard instructor Jami Olcott, the guard, band members and a few
former students worked for over 4 hours on Saturday, October 1st washing
cars. This was a first for the band/colorguard and we raised over $500.
The weather cooperated (it was actually hot!) and the rain held off for
a few days, making for a great car wash. The kids and a few parents
worked hard cleaning cars, trucks, SUV's and even a DUMP TRUCK!!!.
Thanks to all who helped out and to the Beardsley community for their
support!
And the 2011-2012 Drum Major of the Beardsley
Band is...
Congratulations
to our new drum major for the 2011-2012 school year - Lyssa
Carroll! Lyssa is an 8th grade trumpet player in the band. This
year, Beardsley had 3 students attend the USA drum major camp during the
first week of August. During the week each of the students worked hard
and learned a lot of great new things. Beardsley was well represented
with numerous ribbons and awards, including 7th grader, Julia Malone,
who won the 1st Place Medallion in the Drill-down Championships. I'm looking
forward to great leadership from these ladies!

BEARDSLEY
BAND MAKES 2011 DEBUT

On Thursday, October 6, the Beardsley Band and
Colorguard performed for the 1st time in public this year. They
participated in the annual parade for the Rosewood Senior
Center's Senior Olympics. This is a fun event and gives the
band a chance to tune-up before the competition season and also do a
little community service. The kids played well and our parents did a
great job moving equipment.
